Fibonacci is formed by a collaboration of
Daniel Haasnoot (sculpture) and Carolien Teunisse (projections).

The sculpture used as the starting point is generated by the use of an analog algorithm that creates spiral forms based on the Fibonacci mathematical sequence. It is an artistic representation of the inherent beauty found in the Fibonacci sequence, gracefully combining mathematical precision with organic forms. This sculpture is then digitalized into a virtual 3D model using computer algorithms and is subsequently animated using different kinds of software.
These moving images are projection-mapped onto the sculpture.

Sulpture: Daniel Haasnoot

If a person blocks the light of the projector (this is sensed using a Kinect sensor), it will affect the images and audio. By creating shadows with the light that falls onto the sculpture, you influence the reality being created.
New spirals emerge and disappear, revealing the fascinating relationship between mathematics, nature, and the play of light.
